Top things to do in Rarotonga

Rarotonga. One road, no stress, and every reason to stay longer.
This is the kind of place where your shoes barely leave the suitcase. Rarotonga, the heart of the Cook Islands, is all turquoise water, tropical heat and that magical thing called island time. You can drive the whole island in under an hour, but no one's in a rush and you won't be either.

Things to do in Rarotonga are all about balance. Snorkel in Muri Lagoon, swim with colourful fish, kayak to a tiny motu or just park yourself under a palm tree and forget what you came here to do. Wander the Punanga Nui Market for tropical fruit, handmade crafts and a seriously good breakfast before heading straight back to the beach.

Locals will tell you the best way to see the island is by scooter, but bikes, buses and bare feet work just as well. The food is fresh, unfussy and packed with flavour. Expect grilled fish, tropical sides and coconut in everything from cocktails to dessert.

Rarotonga is easy to get to, easy to get around and very hard to leave. Friendly, sunny and full of reasons to extend your stay.
