Grabaseat Gotta Getaway Terms and Conditions
The following terms and conditions are important and affect your rights as a Member of the trial GrabaseatTMGotta Getaway Programme. They form part of your Membership agreement, and you should read them carefully.
The Gotta Getaway Programme is a trial membership programme offered by Grabaseat to selected New Zealand residents who are AirpointsTM Members. The Programme provides Members with access to discounted fares on selected Qualifying Flights (on the Terms set out in detail below).
By submitting a Gotta Getaway Programme application or joining a Single or Multiple Membership, you agree to these Terms and the Air New Zealand Airpoints™ terms & conditions. Your application (if applicable), these Terms (including the Privacy Statement set out below) and the Air New Zealand Airpoints terms & conditions together form your Membership agreement.
Please be aware that there are a limited number of places available in the trial. Selection is at our sole discretion, and we reserve the right not to proceed with a Membership application for any reason.
Gotta Getaway Application
Applications for Gotta Getaway trial memberships are by email invitation only. By submitting an Application, you warrant that the information you provide to us is true, complete and accurate, and that you are authorised to provide it to us. If any of your information subsequently changes, please notify us as soon as possible.
Please note that primary Members must be aged eighteen (18) and over. If a Multiple Passenger Pass is purchased (please refer to Membership type below), then Children may be added as additional Members with the consent of their parent or guardian and subject to the Terms set out in detail below.
There is a one-off Fee for Membership during the trial period. You must pay the Fee upfront by credit or debit card and payment must be made in full (you cannot pay in instalments). Upon payment of the Fee, we will issue you with a receipt, instructions, and a promo code or webpage link (url) by email. Subject to the Termination and Suspension section below, the Fee paid for your Membership is non-refundable, cannot be redeemed for cash or credit and cannot be transferred to another person. If the payment for your Membership Fee fails at any time, we reserve the right to cancel your Membership.
Gotta Getaway membership
Your Membership will give you access to Qualifying Flights at a discount of up to fifty percent (50%) off. These discounts are only available for bookings:
- made within seven (7) days of your intended outbound departure date; and
- which return within fourteen (14) days of the original outbound departure date
Each booking must include a minimum two-night stay to be eligible for the discount.
Discounts cannot be combined or used in conjunction with any other discount or promo code offer
Qualifying Flights are limited to the fare classes: L, T, W, V, Q (excludes certain fare classes), are subject to availability and are subject to change without notice at any time.
Membership will be activated on the Date of Purchase and will remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from and including the Date of Purchase.
There are two types of Membership available: Single Membership "Single Passenger Pass" and a Multiple Membership "Multi Passenger Pass".
For a Single Passenger Pass there is a limit of one (1) adult passenger per booking under the Gotta Getaway Programme. This means that a separate booking will need to be made for any adult or Child passengers who may be travelling with you - unless they are included on a Multiple Passenger Pass.
If you purchase a Multiple Passenger Pass, you can choose up to three (3) additional Members to add to your Passenger Pass. Your additional members must also be AirpointsTM Members and cannot be changed during the Membership Term. If you are the primary Member, you will be responsible for any additional Members added to your Passenger Pass. In particular, you will be responsible for ensuring that they are aware of and comply with these Terms.
Multiple Passenger Passes s can be purchased for up two (2), three (3) or four (4) members. This means that the limit per booking will depend on the membership multiple you have purchased. Any additional Members listed on a Multiple Passenger Pass may book and travel individually or together (unless they are a Child, in which case an adult Member must always book and travel with them). A separate booking will need to be made for any additional adult or Child passengers who may be travelling with you (or the Member making the booking) that are not included on the Multiple Passenger Pass.
An Infant(s) may be added to your booking by contacting the Air New Zealand Contact Centre on 0800 737 000.
In addition to these Terms, the Air New Zealand Airpoints™ terms & conditions and the seat, seat+bag, flexitime and flexidate fare rules apply. All travel purchased is subject to Air New Zealand's Conditions of Carriage. Standard fees or charges payable in connection with a Qualifying Flight or Domestic fare or to any other products or services offered by Grabaseat or its partners will continue to apply.
Your obligations as a Member
You must comply with these Terms. In particular, you agree:
- not to use your Membership for any unlawful, fraudulent or improper purpose
- that your Membership is personal to you and cannot be sold, transferred, or assigned or gifted to anyone else nor used to purchase flights for persons other than you (and any additional members under a Multiple Passenger Pass)
- to treat any promo code or webpage link (url) you are provided with as confidential. You must not share it with anyone else (unless they are also included on the same Multiple Passenger Pass as you) and you must notify us immediately if you know or suspect that someone else knows your promo code or has access to your webpage link (url)
- if you are a primary Member under a Multiple Passenger Pass, you must ensure that any additional Members comply with these Terms. You will be responsible for them and any breach of these Terms by an additional Member will be treated as though it is a breach committed by you.
We may provide you with a new promo code or webpage link (url) if yours may have been compromised. We also have the right to cancel bookings or disable your promo code or webpage link (url) at any time, if in our reasonable opinion you have failed to comply with your obligations under these Terms.
When booking Qualifying Flights you must be logged in with your Airpoints profile. The Discounts are only valid on Qualifying Flights which have been booked in the name of the subscription member/members. You may be required to provide identification prior to or at the time of boarding in order for us to verify that the person travelling is a Member of the subscription. Without limiting any of our rights or remedies, if someone else presents a Ticket issued in your name for travel and we discover that that person is not you, we may refuse to carry that person.
Airpoints and Status Points
Members will earn Airpoints and Status credits on Qualifying Flights in accordance with the seat, seat+bag, flexitime and flexidate rules, available here and the Air New Zealand Airpoints™ terms & conditions, available here.
Booking Cancellation and Changes
Cancellations and changes to any fare are subject to fare rules, available here.
Cancellations or changes made through the Contact Centre may be subject to additional fees.
We collect personal information about you:
- when you apply to join the Gotta Getaway Programme; and
- when you become a Member and use any of the services provided to you under the Gotta Getaway
Personal information includes your name, Airpoints number, travel details and/or purchases of goods and/or services. If you do not provide us with this information, then we may not be able to provide any services that you have requested.
We may use the personal information we collect:
- to process any communications you request
- to administer the Gotta Getaway Programme
- to facilitate your participation in the Gotta Getaway Programme
- to conduct surveys
- to carry out internal research and analytics (including to assess the trial and conduct control groups)
- to comply with laws and regulations in applicable jurisdictions
- to identify and present offers from us or from third parties that may be of interest to you
- facilitating security checks
- any other use that you authorise
We may share your personal information with third parties (such as data processing or market research organisations, or government agencies) for any of the purposes described here. We will require any third-party service providers to strictly comply with our instructions and not use the information for any other purpose. We will not disclose your personal information to any other third party without your consent unless permitted by the Privacy Act.
Without limiting the foregoing Terms in anyway, by providing us with an electronic mailing address or postal address, you authorise us to send Gotta Getaway Programme communications, surveys, special offers, product updates to you using that electronic mailing address, or postal address (as applicable).
If you provide us with any information about a third party (such as an additional Member), or authorise us to collect that information, you confirm that you are authorised by the individual concerned to provide their personal information to us or authorise the collection of information about them in accordance with these Terms. You also confirm that you have informed the individual of their rights to access and request correction of personal information.
You have the right to access your personal information recorded by us and request to have it updated or corrected as necessary.
Termination and Suspension
If you breach these Terms, then we may take one or more of the following actions:
- we may terminate or suspend your Membership;
- we may cancel any unused flights purchased under the Gotta Getaway Programme (without compensation to you); and/or
- we may seek to recover the monetary value of Benefits obtained under the Gotta Getaway
You are responsible for compliance with these Terms. You must reimburse us for any losses or costs we incur recovering amounts you owe (including our legal fees) as a result of your failure to comply with any provision of these Terms.
The Gotta Getaway Programme
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate the Gotta Getaway Programme (or any part of it) for any reason. We will notify you if this is the case.
If we suspend the Gotta Getaway Programme, then we will extend your Membership Term by an equivalent period. This may happen, for example, if we are impacted by COVID-19 Level changes.
If we terminate the Gotta Getaway Programme, then we will (at our discretion) either:
- allow you to continue using your Membership (and the corresponding Benefits) for the remainder of your Membership Term; or
- cancel your Membership and provide you with a pro rata refund of your Membership Fee (calculated on the number of days remaining in your Membership Term).
Our liability to you
If we breach these Terms, our total liability to you will be limited to the following:
- honouring your existing unused flights purchased under the Gotta Getaway Programme; and
- a refund of your Membership Fee.
Amendments to these Terms
We reserve the right to make changes to these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on our website and any changes will be effective upon posting (or such later date as stated in the updated Terms). When we make material changes to the Terms, we may also notify you directly (e.g., by sending you an email). Your continued use of your Membership after such notice will constitute acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the changes, you may terminate your Membership by contacting us, in which case you will be entitled to a pro rata refund of your remaining Membership subscription.
If you acquire or hold yourself out as acquiring for the purposes of a business any services to which these Terms apply, the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (New Zealand) shall not apply to our supply of such services.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand and any dispute arising with your use of or participation in the Gotta Getaway Programme is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
The terms used in these Terms have the following meanings:
"Air New Zealand", "Grabaseat", "we", "our" and "us" means Air New Zealand Limited.
"Air New Zealand Operated Services" is a journey taken only on a Flight and Flight number that is ticketed and operated by Air New Zealand.
"Benefits" means the benefits available to Members.
"Child" is a person between the age of two and eleven years old (inclusive).
"Date of Purchase" is the date you purchase the Membership.
"Fee" means the price paid for the Membership.
"Flexidate fare" means an Air New Zealand domestic Flexidate fare, subject to the Flexidate fare rules available here .
"Flexitime fare" means an Air New Zealand domestic Flexitime fare, subject to the Flexitime fare rules available here.
"Gotta Getaway Programme" means the programme operated by Air New Zealand through its trading name "Grabaseat" allowing a Member to purchase discount online fares on Qualifying Flights.
"Infant" is a person less than two years old (0-23 months old).
"Member", "you" and "yours" means the person who has purchased a Membership and whose name is recorded by Air New Zealand as the designated Gotta Getaway primary member.
"Membership" means an annual Gotta Getaway membership.
"Membership Term" means a twelve (12) month period, commencing on the Date of Purchase.
"Non-Qualifying Fares & Tickets" means Tickets issued for charter flights; travel industry-rebated Tickets; Tickets acquired at auction; discounted Tickets or fares subject to another promo code or discount; promotional and tactical fares; fare classes Y, B, M, H; Tickets not issued in a member's name (even if paid for by a member); or any other Tickets that we may specify from time to time.
"Qualifying Flight" is defined as a return New Zealand domestic Flight on an Air New Zealand Operated Service in fare class L, T, W, V, or Q that originates from and departs to an Airport within New Zealand. Qualifying Flights do not include domestic Flight sectors that are booked as part of an international journey nor travel on Non- Qualifying Fares & Tickets.
"Seat fare" means an Air New Zealand domestic Seat fare, subject to the Seat fare rules available here.
"Seat+Bag fare" means an Air New Zealand domestic Seat+Bag fare, subject to the Seat+Bag fare rules available here.
"Single Passenger Pass" means a single membership for one passenger.
"Multi Passenger Pass" means a multiple membership of up to four (4) passengers.
"Terms" means these terms and conditions, between Air New Zealand and each Member, as amended or replaced from time to time.
"Ticket" is the flight coupon(s) that entitles a passenger to be carried on a specified air service, and it includes electronic ticket receipt(s) that identify carriage on a specified air service.
About the trial
What is the Gotta Getaway Programme?
The Gotta Getaway Programme is a trial membership programme offered by Grabaseat to selected New Zealand residents who are Airpoints Members.
The Programme provides Members with access to discounted fares on selected qualifying domestic flights (return journeys only).
Please be aware that there are a limited number of places available in the trial.
Selection is at Air New Zealand's sole discretion.
Why is this invite only?
Grabaseat wants to trial a subscription product and this trial will allow Air New Zealand to gather information on the popularity and viability of last-minute discounted fares.
Why is this restricted to only Grabaseat customers?
The concept is designed to appeal to our typical Grabaseat leisure customer who may be interested in taking last minute multi-day trips around New Zealand.
Are there any mandatory requirements to participate?
Yes, you must complete a registration-of-interest and pay for your membership pass. Participants also need to be New Zealand residents over the age of 18, and members of the Airpoints programme.
While the primary member must be aged eighteen (18) and over, if a Multi Passenger Pass is purchased then Children may be added as additional Members.
In addition, you will need to agree to the Gotta Getaway Programme terms and conditions. This includes consenting to be contacted for research and surveys about the trial.
How many people will be on the trial?
This is a closed group of members chosen from the pool of registrations.
How will my travel data be used?
We'll use your travel data to assess the success of the Gotta Getaway Programme trial. By accepting the terms and conditions you also agree to being contacted during and for a month after the trial period for the purposes of research and feedback.
Air New Zealand will use your Airpoints number to identify you within the trial.
How will we contact successful customers to join the trial?
We will send an email to successful trial participants letting them know the good news and confirming that we will be in touch in a few days to complete registration and take payment.
Will Air New Zealand be informing customers if they were unsuccessful in joining the trial?
What type of memberships will be available?
You can choose either a Single membership ("Single Passenger Pass") for one adult, or Multiple membership ("Multi Passenger Pass").
The Multi Passenger Pass allows you to add up to 3 additional members to your membership. This permits the listed members to travel individually (unless they are a child, in which case an adult member must also be travelling) or together.
Can the Multi Passenger Pass be a mix of adults and children?
Yes. There is a maximum of 4 passengers associated with the Multi Passenger Pass. This can be a mix of adults and children, with a minimum of one adult (over the age of 18) in the membership. A minimum of one adult must also be included on a booking.
Note: Infants will have to be manually included on a booking by contacting us on 0800 737 000.
How will I choose a Single or Multi Passenger Pass?
At the register-interest stage we will ask you what type of Pass you would want to purchase. At registration you will need to provide the names of the additional members and their Airpoints Numbers. If you are the primary member, you will be responsible for any additional members included on your Multi Passenger Pass.
Can I change the members, or add new members to a Pass later?
No. Once members have been listed at registration, no changes are permitted, and only members listed on a Pass are able to access the member benefits of the subscription.
Can I book travel for people who have not been listed on a membership?
No. Only members listed in the membership can access the membership benefits.
How much does it cost?
Single Passenger Pass $95
Multi Passenger Pass – all additional members at $50 each
- Multi Passenger Pass – with 2 members $145
- Multi Passenger Pass – with 3 members $195
- Multi Passenger Pass - with 4 members $245
How many Adults are required per Pass?
Single Passenger Pass: One adult
Multi Passenger Pass: minimum one adult
How can I pay for a Pass?
We will accept payment for the membership fee via debit or credit card only.
Does the Pass cost include GST?
Yes. A GST receipt will be issued after payment has been made.
How long will the trial go for?
The subscription is for 12 months from the date of the subscription payment. This allows bookings to be made with the subscription for the next 12 months, even if travel is slightly beyond the 12-month period.
Using your Gotta Getaway Pass
How can I book flights?
The trial is only available to book online (via desktop or mobile) on grabaseat.co.nz. Further detailed information will be provided to successful trial members.
Are there any other restrictions?
- Domestic travel only
- Must book a return journey
- Must have minimum two night overnight stay
- Departing flight within 7 days of travel date
- Maximum of 14 nights away
Are there any blackout periods?
No, discounts will be available every day (subject to seat and flight availability). While there will not be close outs for school holidays or Christmas, there may be limited availability on peak travel dates.
Will the discounts be on all seat types?
Yes. You will see the discount across seat, seat+bag, flexitime and flexidate.
Will the discount be on all fares?
The discount will apply to the original standard fare on most fare levels. The discount will apply to the following mid-range fare classes: L, T, W, V, Q
Will the discount be on all Domestic routes?
Yes. The discount will apply to all domestic markets for all origin and destination airports.
How do I see the discount when booking?
When searching for an eligible journey, discounted flights will be presented with a DEAL flag. Once flights are selected, the savings against the original standard fare will be visible at the top of the booking flow screen.
Will I still earn Airpoints Dollars and Status Points (if applicable)?
How many times can I book flights during the trial?
It's unlimited. There is no restriction on the number of flights taken across the 12-month subscription period.
Why can't I see discounts for the flight search I'm doing today?
If discounts are not showing that is because all available seats in the eligible fare classes have been sold for the travel period you are searching.
Can I compare between the Gotta Getaway fares and standard fares in the online booking flow?
Yes, however you will need to open a new window in grabaseat.co.nz to compare.
What if I have lost the Welcome email with the "how to use your Gotta Getaway Pass" instructions?

For travel with multiple passengers, would a person who has the subscription have to book separately or will they be able to share their benefit across all passengers?
Participation is linked to the type of Pass purchased.
The Single Passenger Pass, for example, will only allow one passenger in the booking.
For the Multi Passenger Pass you will need to enter the names of the other members of the Pass (and their Airpoints numbers) on the Traveller Details page.
What if there are other promotions happening on last minute fares?
The discount will only apply off the original standard fare that is shown to everyone else. The discount cannot be combined or used in conjunction with any other discounts or promotions.
